IFTEX 2022 Kenya’s Flower Industry Expo Returns: A Celebration of the International Flower Trade Industry
It’s Monday, May 30, and the Oshwal Convention Center in Nairobi is abuzz with life. Doors are opening for IFTEX, an annual trade event for the international flower trade industry. This is a momentous occasion- there has been no trade fair in Nairobi for the last three years due to Covid-19. But now, things are changing. The convention center is bustling with activity as traders from all over the country come to do business. There’s a feeling of energy in the air as people come together to celebrate the return of IFTEX.

More than 130 Kenyan and international companies presented their products and services for three days. With the growing number of registered flower buyers at this event, it seems to be a perfect place for growers as well!
The Flowers by Sea Conference was held on Tuesday, May 31, and it’s an opportunity for flower growers to learn about the latest developments in shipping their flowers. The supply chain
industry has been experiencing high prices of air freight and space constraints over recent years, which makes many countries eager to look into other methods like the sea-shipping of flowers. This year IFTEX is helping spread awareness among participants on alternative methods of sea freight for shipping flowers that this type of educational event can significantly impact the industry as a whole.
But IFTEX is not only about business. It’s also a chance to catch up with old friends, make new ones, and learn about the latest trends in the industry.
I am glad to be part of IFTEX this year, meeting people and networking, learning about new products and innovations from breeders, growers, and suppliers in the industry. It is great to see the international flower trade industry coming together again after a challenging year. IFTEX is genuinely a celebration of the resilience of the human spirit.
